Antibullying

At our school, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported. We have a zero-tolerance approach to bullying of any kind, and we work proactively to prevent bullying and address any concerns swiftly and effectively.

What is Bullying?

Bullying is behaviour that is repeated, intentional, and designed to hurt, intimidate, or harm another person. It can take many forms, including:

  • Physical bullying (hitting, kicking, pushing, or damaging belongings)
  • Verbal bullying (name-calling, insults, or threatening language)
  • Social bullying (excluding others, spreading rumours, or damaging reputations)
  • Cyberbullying (using technology to harass, threaten, or embarrass others)

Our Approach

We believe that prevention is key to tackling bullying. Our approach includes:

  • Regular anti-bullying education through our curriculum and assemblies
  • Promoting positive behaviour and mutual respect throughout the school
  • Encouraging students to speak up and report any concerns
  • Training staff to recognise and respond to bullying effectively
  • Working with students, families, and external agencies when needed

Reporting Bullying

We encourage all students to report bullying, whether they experience it themselves or witness it happening to others. Students can report concerns to any trusted adult in school, including their class teacher, form tutor, or any member of staff.

Parents and carers who have concerns about bullying should contact the school immediately so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Support for Students

Any student affected by bullying will receive appropriate support from our pastoral team. We also work with students who display bullying behaviour to help them understand the impact of their actions and develop more positive ways of interacting with others.

Working Together

Tackling bullying is a whole-school responsibility. We ask parents and carers to support our efforts by:

  • Talking to your child about kindness, respect, and empathy
  • Encouraging your child to report any bullying concerns
  • Working with the school to resolve any issues
  • Monitoring your child's online activity and promoting safe internet use

Together, we can ensure that our school remains a place where every student feels safe, happy, and able to thrive.
