British Values

Promoting British Values at Ravensworth Primary School

At Ravensworth Primary School, we are committed to promoting the fundamental British Values of Democracy, The Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect and Tolerance of Those with Different Faiths and Beliefs.  These values are embedded across our curriculum and wider school life helping to prepare our pupils to become respectful, responsible, and active citizens in modern Britain.

Democracy

Children are encouraged to express their views and make choices through school council elections, pupil voice activities, and class discussions.  They learn that their opinions matter and that they can make a difference in shaping school life.

The Rule of Law

We teach the importance of rules and laws through our behaviour policy, class charters, and everyday routines.  Pupils learn the reasons behind rules, how they protect us, and the consequences when they are broken, promoting a safe and orderly environment.

Individual Liberty

We support children in developing confidence to make safe, respectful choices and to understand their rights and responsibilities.  Through PSHE, e-safety, and enrichment activities, pupils are encouraged to explore their interests and express their individuality in a supportive setting.

Mutual Respect

Respect is at the heart of our school values.  Pupils learn to work cooperatively, listen to others, and treat everyone with kindness.  We celebrate achievements difference, and shared successes, fostering a strong sense of community.

Tolerance of Those with Different Faiths and Beliefs

Our diverse curriculum reflects the multi-faith society in which we live.  Through RE, assemblies, themed days, and visits, pupils learn about a range of religions and worldviews.  We promote understanding, challenge stereotypes, and encourage open mindedness and curiosity.

These values are not taught in isolation, but are part of the inclusive and respectful culture we promote every day at Ravensworth Primary School.
